I have an old mercury 2 strokre 25hp outboard.
There's what appears to be an air intake flap which opens and closes depending upon the throtle position. Mine only opens a tiny fraction! It appears that the control rod which pushes it (connected to the throttle arm under the rotor cover) is bent. Does anyone know what this is? Should the rod be straight? Should the flap open fully with the throttle? I'm 'assuming' it's designed to increase air flow towards WOT.
