Hallo from Germany!

I have this 225 Optimax on my 16feet Sea Ray,
a very strong combinataion but no problems with this 15 years old boat.
But my Optimax, three years old, has following problem:

A hole from Idle to accelerate, there is no power for a short moment.

Is this perhaps a well known problem to this engine?

B.r.
Holger

Re: Mercury 225 Optimax

G'Day, The opti should fairly fly on this boat, these motors are renowned for great hole shot. however we need the following information.
What is the Maximum RPM at full throttle?
What size propeller is fitted, diameter X pitch, type of prop may also be usefull.
Weight of boat.
Height of motor on the boat.
Are smartcraft guages fitted? have you had any alarms sound?

Re: Mercury 225 Optimax

A bunch of the V-6 Mercurys had this problem. Check your primer bulb. Use only the "Mercury" primer bulb that has a yellow washer at the outlet side of the fuel connection. Do not use an aftermarket primer bulb on this engine. I know it's sounds ridiculous, but it's true... Send me an email & I'll be happy to send a copy of the service bulletin.
