Hello everyone! I have a mercury 200 dfi engine from 1997. (White Elephant) I had a lot of problems with these engines. These are the first series of direct injection engines and only a few hundred were made. My engine has 1 operating hour, practically brand new. It was hung on the wall of a Dutch sailing school as a demonstration engine from the first minute. I bought it from there. Unfortunately, there are hardly any parts for it because it was redesigned. I would like to use it somehow, I tried to start it but it smoked terribly. Is there any way to use it? Convert it to a carburetor or central injection? I would like to get some advice. I have a Quicksilver diagnostic for it but unfortunately it does not see exactly what is wrong with the oiling.

Thank you very much for the advice.

I don't know much about the Optimax but in research it list the linkage rod is out of adjustment or has fallen off.

Could also be the oil tank is being over pressurized, it has a 2 psi check valve

Are the spark plugs coated with oil?

Don't know your serial number but I'm finding parts are here in the USA. Hope someone with more knowledge will comment
