I purchased a mercury 200 20hp motor and have some questions.

It is a Canadian model with serial #7063077.
I purchased this for my 1977 16 ft Restored Duranautic offshore boat.

1) Can someone tell me the model year?
2) Which cylinder is #1 and what coil is #1 I have a service manual but it is very vauge.
3) I have a mercontrol and have the throttle cable hooked up but can,t seem to figure out how the shift control cable hooks up. If someone has picture of the cable linkage it will be a great help.

Thank you I am new to this forum and I think someone can help me.

It's been 5 years and still searching for my solution. The reason I want a charging system is I fish at night and use a fish finder. These drain the battery.

Questions:

Can I use the ignition stator coil for power to add voltage to a rectifier?

Can I change my ignition stator assembly to one that accepts a lighting coil?

If I could get a picture of an engine's ignition stator with lighting coils, I will know what to look for.

No you need the lighting stator (74367A9) and rectifier. The stator is NLA and will have to be sourced either used or NOS thru google search. Problem is it is only a 4 amp charging systm and this is at WOT. Idling it might charge back 1amp and most new DF draw more than it will put out. Might be best to install a separate battery to run accys
