My Merc 18 has an electric choke solenoid but its not connected to the choke plate in any way. Its just attached to the top of the carburetor. How does this engage the choke?
It's not a choke it's a enrichment valve, look at the carb and you will see a small hole, when the solinoid is activated a plunger covers the hole and richens the idle mix to help the engine start.
