I don't know how that engine is plumbed. It may be off the stat output or off the top of the block. Apparently something has dislodged and clogged the hose. I would trace it back to the block and disconnect it there in determining if the hose is clogged or you are having problems with your water pump, or there is some crud in your bock clogging it, or your water tube and pump interface is no longer intact.

I am wondering why I am not getting a hot buzzer alarm. I took off all the hoses connected and made sure they were clear. No water coming out.

Robin;

What was the condition of the impeller which you removed? Were there any vanes or pieces missing from it? I have looked through your previous posts and nowehere do you mention the year or s/n. Do you have those?

Gerry it is 150 Hp Mercury Nitro EFI the serial number is OGO77344 the impeller was worn but no vanes missing. Looks like maybe some small chips. The metal housing the impeller was in was worn out. He replaced all that and it was pissing fin but I still had a oil buzzer alarm. Had another mechanic check out all the alarms on the alarm module. I had a cracked oil reservoir cap.no more buzzer but when I start the motor with the hose connection it will not ****. I thought maybe then thermostats were not opening so I replaced them. Still no pissing. So I took them out and still not pissing. I disconnected all the hoses and made sure there were no clogged lines. None were clogged but I did not check the hole that the lower hose came off of. Not sure if something is lodged in there. Still no pissing not sure what to heck next. Thanks Gerry

Re the one hose you haven't checked, get a piece of lawn trimmer line and shove it up that hose as far as you can or completely remove the line and make sure it is clean. You would not believe what mud daubers can pack in there and plug it completely. That is the easiest to do before you have to start looking inside.

Just an FYI, that serial number you posted is for a 175XRI not a 150. Check the powerhead on the starboard side for a core plug with the serial number stamped in it, and see if it says the same thing as the one on the tilt bracket.

Check your intake screens. When you put the lower unit back up, did the tubes line up and the neoprene connector seat and fit tightly ? Sounds like you may have to drop the lower unit and go back over your work. Did the impeller go in ok - could the blades have been bent in the wrong direction, then snapped off - plugging up the works? How about that tiny little key on the shaft that holds the impeller - I've had to hold them in place with a daub of thick grease while I fit the impeller over it ?

Don I will check. That is the number that was on the tittle when I bought it. But I will check the numbers and make sure they match. That could cause a problem ordering parts. I have ordered some parts already and they didn't tell that the numbers were for a 175 and they asked me what hp my motor was.

Quick tach I feel comfortable that he put it back on right. I was right there. But that is a good point. I think maybe the screens. The mechanic that checked my wiring said bigger motors sometimes don't get enough water with the muffs. The mechanic did other impeller back in the right way and lubed it. I kind of agree with on the screens.

Don I checked again and my s/n is OG077334 not OGO77344 it looks like the OGO is OG and a zero not a O.

In my post #12, I did correct your s/n to a 0 instead of an O and that s/n is indeed a 175XR1.

Sometimes its tha "Nitro" part that screws things up. They did some strange things when they went ta bed with factory rigged Nitro badges. ie: 200 hp XR6 Nitro!............

Yes, I know all about the 0 and O thing, Merc never uses the letter O in a serial number ...... Never.

The 334 number is indeed a 150. Many of the parts are interchangable between a 150 and a 175, which is why you didn't have problems.

I think when they typed up my serial number on the tittle they thought it was a zero. I will use O from now on when I give my part no. Thanks for the info

Re: Mercury 150 hp EFI Nitro

Found out the problem why the motor was not pissing. I pulled the lower unit off to see what was going on. The mechanic put the impeller in l with the vanes going counter clock wise instead of clock wise. It got hot and melted the impeller to the water pump housing. Not pumping water. I will be giving him a call. I don't wants him touching my motor but he will be giving my money back on the water pump. At least I know the problem now.

Had he installed it per the instructions in the serv. man. he wouldn't have had the problem: Lubricate the cover with 2-4-C with teflon (Mercury marine lube). While pressing the cover down onto the impeller, slowly rotate the drive shaft CW. It's a walk in the park and slides right in place in one revolution.
