tweakin' involves motor height, set back and prop.. no play in steering at all is a must... would need that offset plate ta do any "tweaking"........ what size is tha jack plate?

Any particular reason to avoid the Wiescos? I think my last rebuild I used a WSM rebuild kit.

Not sure what the adjustment ranges are. It's a discontinued Bob's though. I believe it also has two setback adjustments. I will need to contact them and verify all of that and the HP rating. I agree on the steering too. This boat has the pretty basic steering setup with no type of assist and probably would need an upgrade

Sent Bob's an email but I believe it is a MJ5 model which seems to be rated for 300hp and has either a 2.5" or 5" setback setting with a 0 or 6 degree wedge setting as well.

Thats not a speed hull.. Sold quite a few of them. With a 175 set up for F&S about a 63 mph ride. Set up for speed might get close to 68-69mph. COG is too far foward

63 is about too fast for us anyways lol. Would be nice to be able to outrun a storm if needed but that's about all we would to go over 50mph for.

What are your thoughts on swapping out a larger hp powerhead? Would a 200 2.5L be too much assuming the boat is structurally sound? Despite the engine problem, the boat itself appears to have been garage kept most of it's life so I'm hopeful it is sound. I know a lot of hp ratings are more of a weight issue vs raw hp and from what I am seeing in the manual the 2.0L 150 is 404 lbs while the 200 is 395 lbs, so kind of a wash.

Odds are that 200hp for sale isn't going to have a good powerhead but I'm for sure going to check it out soon. Seller had it listed for $1,700 and just dropped it to $900. Figure it's at least worth a look at that price. Will bring a good battery and do a compression check and inspect the cylinders with my phone adapted borescope. If it's like our motor it has the quick disconnect fuel fitting on the motor so I can hook up one of my portable tanks and see if it will actually try to run. My dad currently is sick with Covid (mild symptoms) so I'll go take a look on his behalf with no intent to purchase then and there and will post back with any questions I come up with from my inspection.

Any reading material or thoughts for me in the meantime regarding this potential powerhead swap just in case it checks out?
