mercury 125 starter problem

My 125 outboard's starter stays spinning whether the motor starts or not. It is disengaged from the flywheel but the only way to get it to stop is to tap the solenoid. The starter keeps spinning even when I turn the key off. Faulty solenoid?

It sounds like the contacts inside the solenoid are burnt and the spring that pushes it back has weakened over the years. Yep, time for a new one.
