Hi,

I have a Merc 115 hp 6 cylinder, commonly called the tower of power. It has 3 carbs and I'm experiencing a gas leak from a part on the motor. When the motor is cranked over, gas is pumped out of the part in the attachment by the arrow. I'm assuming this needs to be hooked up to something, but not sure what. To the upper left of the part with the arrow is the middle carb. If you would like more pictures, please let me know.

Thanks

Welcome to iboats.

That is the fuel enrichment valve.
It takes the place of a choke, by allowing additional fuel to flow into the intake.

If I remember correctly, there should be a fuel line connecting the middle carb to the inlet of the enrichment valve, And another fuel line running from the enrichment valve output, into the manifold .

I can get you a photo tomorrow if you need one, just ask.

First, I was wrong, the enricher attaches to the top carb, at least on my '86 I6 115.

Here you go, first photo shows enricher.

Second photo, inlet hose attaching to the top carb.

The bottom outlet on the enricher attaches to a fitting on the other side of the motor, below and behind the starter, from there, a hose runs down and attaches to the manifold.

Starter view, then a zoomed in photo showing the connection.

Fuel enters the enricher.
When you push and hold the key in to actuate the choke, it actually opens a valve inside the enricher. enricher only supplies extra fuel to motor when you are holding the key in.

Thanks! The pictures were very helpful. That is exactly what my problem was.
