mercury 110 9.8 problems

My 197? guessing 78 mercury 110 9.8 with thunderbolt ignition will start up fine and run, but wont get on the power band.

It will push my 12 foot duck boat slower than i can swim..

In a tank in gear it runs like a champ and revs all the way up, but in the water it wont take full throttle, it just bogs out so you have to run half throttle...

Any ideas?

i have cleaned carb and fuel pump, fresh 50:1 mix, new champion plugs, good spark with light tester, squeezing bulb didn't help, good compression?

i recently aquired a mercury 110 9.8 hp around a 1972 model its on a 14ft flatbottom having about the same problem, ran great in barrel but not worth a dang in lake, did u ever get yours running right?

in a barrel there is no load on the lake it has alot of load>Check the compression

Is it firing on both cylinders, sounds like maybe it isn't??? I've pulled over a 100psi on those motors both plugs out.
