Mercrusier Alpha drive re-install ?

Hey all, Just putting the lower Unit back on after U-joint and gimble bearing inspection. Have the seal kit that just came in. Any Gasket goo recommended or just the Dry seal between the Lower Unit and Gimble Housing?

I always did my alpha dry except for a dab of grease on the oring to help keep it in place.

You will want to glue the big square ring in the bell housing first. You can use bellows adhesive or weatherstrip adhesive.

I use a dab of bellows adhesive on the O ring rather than grease, stays on better than grease. I put my OD gasket on dry once and it took about a half hour to get what was left of it off the 2 pieces. A local merc mechanic said to put a film of gimbal bearing grease on both sides of the gasket and then wipe it lightly to remove any excess. Now I use the grease and the gasket doesn't stick and rip apart when you disassemble.
