mercruser 350 engine moving forward

just noticed a weird sound when I kicked it down...my 1990 thundercraft with 350 and alpha 1 outdrive, engine seems, (is) moving forward and the bolts on belt pully are making contact with aluminum access door frame ??? Found the weird sound.. (Boat sounds old but only 250-300 hours on her, always stored inside and babied) Do not want to go at it and misaligned anything

most likely the damper is walking off the crank

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... The motor is held to the transom with 2 big ole 1/2" bolts,....

So,... I'd sooner think Scott is right, the harmonic balancer is in need of replacin',....

OK ... the pulley that is hitting seat brace is the cam / water pump pulley... Not the crank pulley

Starry pushing and pulling on things. Shouldn't take long to find what's loose.

No cam pully on a GM motor circ pump but that is bolted to the water pump shaft they break and fall off but dont move foward
