i have a 1991 mercruiser 4.3l lx alpha one gen2. just got it out of storage. was winterized professionally last fall and cracked exhaust manifold -(only crack outside wall so leaked a little water into boat but ran just fine) was replaced.

now cant get it to start. new gas. new battery. new spark plugs. do get spark from plugs.

starter turns but wont continue to run. thought is seemed like when my mower carburetor needed cleaning. but notice some leaking gas where fuel line attaches to carburetor. metal tube is intact but leaks at fitting. not sure if this is the reason it won't start or just another problem? ran fine last fall before i took it in. not sure what to do?

Fix the leak first before you set things on fire or blow up.

starter turns but wont continue to run.

Does that mean the engine does start, but when you let the key off the start position it dies?

i fixed the gas leak simply by tightening nut. boat never starts. starter turns belt and has almost started once or twice. do get gas out of line going to carb so I think the pump works. did test one spark plug and got spark but did not test all of them. all plug wires connected and look ok.

also someone mentioned a kill switch could be a problem in another post but I don't have a switch with a lanyard. there is a button next to where the ignition key goes but not sure what this does. i never used it last year and it worked fine. I have tried starting with switch pushed and it makes no difference
