Re: Mercruiser will not work without a lot of revs

Thanks Chris, looks a handy bit of kit. Before I get this though, would it be that I'm just over choking maybe? I have moved the choke to 1 notch right of centre as well as adjusting the needle and screw. Maybe (I'm hoping!), that just a bit of fine tuning will sort her out. A bit more revs with the screw more against the cam? Unscrew the needle a tad more even? Now that I have her ticking over nice, the opposite of before.....was dying at low revs...now dying at high.... it must be something simple? Almost going on my first trip, so close I can smell it. Any more advice would be utterly superb.:joyous: Also, what would be the best revs to knock her into gear without damage? Minimum or maximum?

The only spec is for idle in forward gear, 'unhindered'. In other words, out on the water not tied to a jetty or anything...

For your engine, 700 rpm....

Hey @Emaraldsnake sorry to revive this oldie. I was looking for my post of the same nature and came across yours. Did you ever figure this out? I have the same issue, and have taken the same steps to fix. Walked away years ago and am back to figure this out!
