Mercruiser trim pump issue

Good day. I have installed a used trim pump in my 1975 campion boat. It works good aside from these 2 issues. First being when I put it all the way down it comes back up a bit on its own. Second when I'm trimking up or down while under way the alt meter on dash jumps up. Any ideas

If the engine is running while operating the trim, the alternator senses a demand and applies more amperage.

If engine isn't running, something is weird

The creaping back up may be air in the system.

The dash meter jumping thing is normal when engine is running and there is a drain on battery from high electrical load being used.
