Re: Mercruiser problems

Zoom Zoom is right! Ran great other than I still have the same gosh darn hesitation when puting the throttle down. Did not tinker with idle mixture to make it richer on a load, as was suggested in other posts. I was just happy it went as well as it did. I was expecting the worst!

I actually picked up 2-3 mph with the new carb at WOT trimmed out at about 4600 RPM. This is even with my 20 pitch Compromp 4-blade replacement prop. Quick out of hole if she does not bog.

Need to put repaired 3-blade aluminum back on to see what high end is. Should crack 50.

Followed the Clymer's manual and adusted all shift cables and such. Does not kill going into reverse. The cutout roller at WOT reverse was not in the notch on the plate so it would kill engine. Docking is a hell of alot easier with reverse that actually will accelerate!

Any suggestions on the bog? I can live with it, I did before, if I have to! Hate to mess with a good thing.

Thanks to all that helped especially fone_man.

ed

Re: Mercruiser problems

Something I have learned from this and other sites is about the carb with the single adjustment screw being boggy by nature. Apparently there is another model carb that has two mixture screws that has a richer main metering system.
