Mercruiser Outdrive Shift Shaft

So I have a Mercruiser outdrive Pre Alpha that will no go into reverse.
We took the outdrive apart and found a bent shift shaft. I went to the local boat store with the part in hand and he told me they no longer make it(See image below)


Now I am wondering will this work?

That an oldie, the curved section works a reverse lockout system mounted to the drive itself.
If you DO NOT have this locking assembly then the one posted will work.
