Can any one tell me where i can find a marine engine rebuild kit for my chevy 250 inline 6? I tryed every web site only succeed under automotive type kits.
Did I mention it's fresh water cooled. So I was wondering if I can use a a automotive rebuild kit? Same pistons and rings right? Is the only differences in the cam and freeze out plugs?

Hi Guys:

I used the kit for a GM inline six 250 from Napa Auto Parts with good success and no ongoing issues. Marine gaskets are required for the marine parts on the basic engine.

No reason not to use the automotive kit. The freeze / core plugs will need to be brass. The head gasket in your kit may already be stainless - you can check, and if unsure, simply buy a marine head gasket. The pistons and rings are the same. The cam is close enough to the same if not identical. These engines were used in trucks most of the time - very similar torque needs and curve.
