This may not be the best or proper forum for my help request. So, if not, please redirect it. I am fitting two aluminum gas tanks into my MC/Searay rebuild, but unfortunately after pressure testing, I noticed one SS NPT fitting (gas tube) had a leak (weird it cracked). I have always been reluctant of using an aluminum fitting into an aluminum tank due to the possibility of it chemically welding. and I would never be able to remove it. I can use LOTS of Teflon tape to minimize corrosion, but I'd prefer ss. Iboats list one that looks like SS, but does not provide written details. Any thoughts on SS or just using lots of Teflon on aluminum?

Most all fitting attached to the fuel tanks are aluminum and its rare to hear of someone not being able to remove when needed.

Do not use 'lots and lots' of Teflon tape, it's not meant to be used that way. Teflon tape is a lubricate, not a sealer. 2 wraps is all you need, NO MORE. It's the taper of the fittings that does the sealing... Not the tape...

I have some liquid sealant. Perhaps I need to use that? Thx to all!

I use liquid pipe dope, stuff used for plumbing.
Use it everywhere I want to seal, water, hydraulics, gas, etc
