Has anyone had any experiance with Sierra manifolds for mercruiser. I am replacing my 1 piece manifolds and I have found Sierra and GSM to be the least expensive. Any info on what and where I can find the best deal would be appreciated.

I don't have personal experience, but have heard from members on here that Sierra may require having to be machined flat for a good seal. I just replaced mine and found a good deal on eBay for a set of new OEM Merc manifolds. I think that your safe to use Osco and Barr as well.

Just be careful. In the case of manifolds and elbows quality and price seem to be closely related.... ;)

And I would 'hang the expense', and go to dry-joint manifolds/elbows....

Ayuh,.... I bought a set of GLMs for my 4.3,... They Leaked,.... Sweetwater, luckily...

Had to pull 'em, 'n remachine the riser gasket faces to level, 'n flatten 'em....

Barr or Osco brand will get you a better product at reasonable money. Don't buy the cheapest, they will cost you more in the long run.

The Mercruiser OEM parts appear to be very well-made and that is what I've used for my replacements.

Re: Mercruiser exhaust manifolds

Quality of manifolds and elbows appears to be directly proportional to cost.... I've just spent 3 years chasing a problem because the company that supplied a part to me had it made in China (I didn't know) and it was a constant problem until I replaced it with an 'expensive' genuine part... The real question is not how much they cost to buy, but how much they will cost in the future.... Most 'cheap' parts are just that, and will eventually cost you far more than you save....
