Tested the electric fuel pump pressure at the carb on a 5.0 liter 305 CID 2 barrel carbed Mercruiser due to surging above 3400 RPMs. The test was performed on land with muffs on. At idle, the pressure is 7 PSI. The pressure drops to 4.5 PSI when the RPMs get to 3600. WOT is 4400 to 4800. Is this normal for an electric fuel pump to have a pressure drop like this? If it was under a load in the water, I wonder if the pressure drop would be more. Thanks in advance for any help.
