Thanks AllDodge, I appreciate your efforts and I will save that for future reference. Apparently even the SELOC manual is incorrect for the 4.3L Carbed engine.

Cleaned everything behind the gauge cluster and the tach operates as it should now. I'm back to suspecting there is a ground short inside the ICM coming out of the tan/blue wire.

I want to verify again if my wiring diagram I posted above would effect anything inside the ICM. The way I'm understanding it is If the temp gets high, the temperature switch grounds the yellow wire which sends the signal to the ICM to retard the timing and then sends ground out of the tan/blue to activate the alarm. I don't want to bypass any protection features that the ICM might offer.

hi guys, not one to re-hash old topics but this is relatively recent. from all i read here, i am still a bit confused . in ppost 13 by alldodge he said to unplug the connector and jump the tan/blue to the yellow but they are in different connectors based on the diagram. are you saying to remove the wires from the connectors completely and jumper them together?

Check this video. Just remove wires (yellow and tan/blue) from sockets (or cut) and join. Have a similar problem right now. Tan/blue terminal in ICM constantly connected to a ground. Because of that someone before me cuted a buzzer) I'm trying to repair audible alarm system right now.
Will send couple of photo when finish.

Some updates in video here. You need to replace temp sensor to temp switch.
