3.0 L GM 181 I/L4 - Alpha 1 Gen 2 Alpha Drive CW - 2008

Issue is shifting into neutral is hard to get to click in when in water – takes a few seconds or sometimes have to re-shift to fall in place.

This has always been an issue with boat since I got it in 2010.

Recently replaced control shifter, new 12ft shifting cables (flexible), shifting bracket assembly including shift interrupt. Also on Alpha drive replaced Shift Shaft Lower and bushing assembly, Shift Shaft Upper along with bushing and seals and lever assembly. – Did not fix the speedometer which would not use anyway.

Special notes:

Cable going to alpha drive shift lever assembly always need to be adjusted farthest distance apart –brass rod – 6.38” in- order to make forward and reverse work well. Made sure idle is in lowest adjustment and shift interrupt switch is set correctly.

Works fine running on land shifting forward, neutral, and reverse, but when running in water does not drop in neutral well and slowly clicks in or readjust controller forward and then back into neutral.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes. Did replace the lower shift cable. Note that all three cables were replaced.
Thanks for your time and input.

Sounds like a good plan, but will need to wait until tropical storm Nichole passes SC. Thanks
