I have 2 Chevy 383 stroker marine converts from 350s in my Sea Ray. Or, pay 10K to have MC name on the block. Unless transom bolt patterns are NOT the same, I don't see why they will not work. Mine do not have Vortec heads. A good machine shop can just about convert anything or change a 350 to a stroker. Of course, you will have to consider heads, intake and valve cover combinations.
It's not the same motor. The 2014 and later motors are Mercruiser only castings

It's not SBC, it's Mercruisers own block, heads, flywheels, rods, etc

So a good machine shop can't fix the existing motor.

However, with a pile of parts in addition to an SBC bobtail, it can be made to work.

Just an FYI, a complete SBC derived 383 remanufactured bobtail is the same price as the OPs Mercruiser version

If he can't get 350 parts out of country, that makes sense. However, are bellhousings different?

I believe they are different. However not by much

The OPs best route is to find a complete bobtail
