Looking to change the oil in a new to me boat with a 5.7L Mercruiser.

Oil is very clear and looks good but I believe the original owner changed it at the beginning of last season, not this season.

I use Synthetic oil in all my cars, I am a big believer in the longevity it gives engines. Is there a Marine grade Synthetic you guys have any luck with? Where is the best place to get marine oil filters, etc?

I was thinking about having this done by a marine mechanic for the first time so I don't mess anything up. How often do you guys change your oil, just by the season or a certain number of operating hours in addition to seasonally?

Thanks guys.

Book calls for changing the oil every 100 hours or yearly. Many change it during winterization along with the gear lube so it will be clean during storage.
