Mercruiser 5.7 (1995) carb: ign coil question

checking the service book, it shows specs for the coil
primary resistance 0.6 - 0.8 ohm
secondary resistance 9.400 -11.700 ohm

if I were to change the coil today with a pertronix 45,000V 45001 would it swap in without extra parts?
primary resistance 0.6 ohm
secondary resistance 9,000 ohms

what has me stumped is the secondary resistance number. The manual has periods, not commas.

Comparing the MSD to Pertronix, the spark duration was longer for Pertronix 1.5 mS vs Blaster 2 350 uS. I assume its shorter because the MSD coil is capable of multi spark firing. Seems like Pertronix is a closer match to oem. Thank you for confirming it.

Finally got around to dewinterize and do a tune up. The old coil looks to be original and if Im not mistaken, the tower looks scorched. Im going keep it as a spare. Im hoping this is more of a spark plug lead issue than coil problem, but I changed the plugs and wires as well. They all looked worn out. I installed the Pertronix 45011 and Denso ITF20 iridium plugs (5331). It fired right up and ran well. Next will be the cap and rotor and check timing.
