Hello, I have a SeaRay Amberjack 290 with two MERCRUISER 5.0 MPI 2005 STERNDRIVE. Once I turn on the switch for Starboard Engine is beeping two times every minute. With VesselView is showing two alarms (TRIM ALARM and Ignition Circuit open or High Impedance). Engines are working perfect but are not going more than 2500 RPM. Any help is appreciated.

2 Beeps a minute is for a open of short in a sensor. Need to scan for correct code but lost likely it's the trim sensor

Hi. Be great to get it plugged in…but a gambling man would suggest it’s a result of a short in or around the control box and probably the neutral safety switch in there. Trim position sensor also possible with DTS controls. Or you have the drive trimmed up into trailer or beyond the trim limit. It won’t let you surpass those rpms if so…on some newer and DTS systems.

Thanks. I'll start with these recommendations. I'll be checking on and I'll let you know.

I found some issues and I corrected. The transom cables (limit switch and position sensor for the Trim were disconnected on both engines. I check now and those alarms disappeared. I'm steal dealing with the ignition Alarm. I'll put the boat in the water to check if now I can go over 2500 rmp. I'll let you know how it goes.

One of the sensors outside was damage. I connected a variable resistor (50 to 150 ohm) to simulate the trim position and worked good. Now I'm dealing with the ignition Alarm. I'll put the boat in the water to check if now I can go over 2500 rmp. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hello. I tested the engines with a hose at home. Now port engine is going over 2500 rpm in neutral and in gear, but the starboard is going over 2500 rpm in neutral BUT NOT in gear. Do you know where to look in that case. Do you think that in that case is really something related to the control box? Where can I find the electric scheme for that part?
Thanks always for your help.

Motors need to be scanned for codes.

Also going over 1800 rpm on a hose can burn the impeller
