Mercruiser 496 HO Need Help with repair shop Referral

Yup, and by way of comparison you should see what the VP owners are saying about their high pressure side fuel pumps, grrrrrrr.

So Volvo Penta has the same issue ? I had to think at first what VP met. Lol. I'll ask about that tomorrow cause MY BOAT IS DONE. I am told from Mr. John that it runs better than ever. We are on the water with it tomorrow mourning. Tells me no more overspeed faults in which mainly led to the big issue for limiting the engine and shutting down at all different times. Something to that effect Lol. Still over my head on some of these issues.. The paint inside the fuel cell is not over my head but really do not understand why paint it ?

Amazing almost 2 years of BS with money down the drain and this guy fixes it less than a week and a half. Just in time for boating season. A huge lesson learned and expensive one at that.

Had to come up to report the boat has never ran so good and most likely never ran this good. The engine responds and runs so much better without one hiccup. It is a day and night difference, does not even seem like my boat. Also the peace of mind I finally have that it runs very well. Was on the water early this mourning for over an hour. Also learned a lot how to trim and use the trim tabs better for this style of boat.

Would also like to thank MUC for his pm stating that John aka BUP was a 496 expert on the recommendation. That really is an understatement. By far the best boat mechanic I have talked to, dealt with and really cares about his customer boats along with fixing issues that seemed no else could. Goes way above and beyond with everything that pertains to boating including working on them. All my old parts were laid out today, he went over everything with the finest detail even explaining so I could see and have a better understanding why so many issues were taking place on the engine side.

If you are needing help with your boat, I highly recommend John aka BUP without a doubt. Like I said, less than a week and an half he had me running like a brand new engine compared to 2 years of the many who could not nor even came close for a solid running engine.

I just purchased a 2007 296 Rinker with the 496 mag. having this same problem. I pulled the top off of the fuel module and paint flakes all over it plugging up the regulator. My question is do you know if Mercruiser will pay for any of the parts for this repair? I can't get a dealer to respond, and yes my serial number is within the range. Thank You
