Mercruiser 470 heat exchanger question.

Is it possiable to take a 4 inch marine heat exchanger from another brand or type or size of engine and make it work on my 470.

That's a difficult question.

The original Merc. 470's had a 3", as recall. They went to a 4"', later.

However we have NO idea what you are working on, so the advice moot.

82 merc 470, it only has the 3 inch exchanger right now. I know I can find the 4 inch one specific to my model. i just thought if I was somewhere or came across a 4 inch one at a good price should I buy for my app.

If it has the Right ports to hook it up to your motor, with the right Size ports, in the Right places,........
