Back in Post#9, I had a link with someone who has also done the job. These are not my words but copied and pasted from that article :
Chicago Rawhide was the manufacturer of Speedie Sleeves and they are available in a multiple of sizes that include the range required for the 470's cam nose. (NOTE 2 PER NOSE)
They are also available from National and for some strange reason they look exactly the same, only they cost less. I used 3 of CR and 1 of National and could't tell the diff other than packaging.
The ones I bought were each complete with a ' tube tool' to apply them and the rings were easily snipped with cutters and removed. It's almost like snipping a tin lid and then tearing it around carefully away from the sleeve. Any EDGE burrs left are CAREFULLY removed with a fine file/stone and then crocus cloth (very fine emery cloth). This part is very important if you don't want to rip the new seals.
If the fit is a tad looser than you'd like due to size availability restrictions they can be applied with some JB Weld. CR supplies full instructions for sizing.
Done properly you'll never be back to this area of the engine. As you can see from Dave's pics the chain tensioner is very visible, you could easily rob from your spare engine if need be.
CR is part of SKF now and has amalagamated operations, so I can't find original site but here's a lead
SKF Speedi-Sleeve
YUKK- its in metric now so I hope you have a metric caliper/micrometer but just in case NOT I found the ones that I think I used and have found the sketch and old CR chart for selecting.
My own shafts (2) measured in at 0.872" and I elected to use the CR part number 99087 who's spec is Nom shaft diam = 0.875 with min shaft diam of 0.873 and max of 0.877- this was the best match (and I think for deksea too). You can now understand why I used a little JB weld in the grooves.
The same product is still available from SKF I found the listing here and they even converted to imp measure.. Please measure accurately and choose the size that fits your's not mine although I wouldn't be surpirsed if they workled out very close. Your vintage is probably closer to Daves than mine but I think other than the method of attaching the impellar the cams were identical.
