I purchased a 2003 hurricane deck boat last year and I am needing to replace the serpentine belt soon. I saw other forums referencing Gates belts to save some money but I am unsure which will fit. My engine is a Mercruiser 4.3 MPI with Alpha 1 gen 2, raw water cooled S/N 0M370012. I saw another forum where someone reccomended the Gates 6PK1930. Although my Mercury brand belt that is currently on the boat states 6PK1938 as seen in the image below. I know the Quick Silver part number would be 57-865615Q04 but would like a cheaper alternative if possible. According to the 6PK... number on my belt wouldn't I want a Gates 6PL1938? Or am I thinking of this all wrong?

Thanks in advance!

"6" is number of ribs, the "PK" designation is the Automotive style, metric (worldwide) measurement in mm for length. So, your belt (6PK1938) is a 6-rib(6) Metric / automotive (PK) 1938 mm long. So the "American" interchange would be a K060763 in a gates belt. "K" (automotive style) "06" (number of ribs) "0763" (length in inches, 76.3" converted from 1938 mm).

The Quick Silver part number you listed " 57-865615Q04" is 1941 mm long, or 3mm longer than the one on your boat now. Gates does not make a 1941mm belt, anything close and they cross it to the 1938mm one listed above, K060763.

Excellent, thank you! So that one you posted from amazon would be a direct replacement for the Mercruiser part number 57-863876-4 that is currently on the boat? Also I have read some threads stating automotive belts have a tendency to create static electricity, unlike the marine grade belts. Is there any truth to this? I don't want to increase the chances of explosive gas fumes.. :D

Or would the Gates K060764 be a better fit since it is 76.4 inches long which I'm guessing is what the end of the merc. number means as well? I just don't understand why the belt on it states "6PK1938" and "57-863876-4" if they would be two different measurements in length. I'm just torn between which to go with..

Personally, I would just go with the K060763 . I don't know anything about static and marine vs automotive belts. Never heard of that.....doesn't mean much I'm new to working on boats. I replied as I've learned how to read belt numbers from many years of building custom cars etc and needed to find my own belt numbers.

Perfect, that's what I went with. Just odd that the Merc number on my belt would "...76-4" would convert to about 1940.56 mm even though the metric number on the belt is the 1938 mm. I'm sure with the adjustable tensioner pulley that the 3 mm will be able to be compensated for by raising or lowering that pulley. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Thanks again for your help.

belts are belts, they do not know if they are on a car of boat, the engine manufacturers make their own belts, like many of their parts, they are repurpased automotive parts. like the IAC motor on the efi engines, that comes off of a ford windstar.
ive been putting gates balts on boats for years.
