@ TDC both intake and exhaust valves should be closed....has anyone tampered with the rocker arms? I'm not sure if they are adjustable on that motor of if they get locked down tight.....just a thought. Perhaps one of the marine mechanics that is familiar with this motor will chime in

Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone, short answer was that the timing was out completely, well 180 deg. Thank you all for pointing me in the right direction with your expert advice.
