Hi All,

i have a 1999 4.3 with alpha 1 gen 2 . it shift really quick into reverse but going in to forward the engine rpm goes up before it clunks into gear. i followed the adjustments of the cable everything was in spec. ( cable was set to 6" from barrel to center hole, slack in cable is within spec. when i adjusted everything per spec the cut of switch started stalling the engine.
not sure where to go now. i do know that the previous had a new lower drive installed before i purchased the boat last year. Could they of put some thing in wrong ? the shifter only needs to move back slightly and it goes into reverse without problem. Also the cable pin that slide up or down is in the fully down position. Any help is appreciated

thank you in advance.

if you are certain the lower shift cable is adjusted properly, 6" between centers fully locked in FWD gear then the issue may be you need to adjust the remote cable
