Ok guys it’s middle of July and my boat is still stuck in the yard. Quick overview. 1992 bayliner with a 305 mercruiser. Had water in my oil last year my mechanic replaced gaskets manifold and head. Fixed problem no more water in the oil. Took boat out for first trip this year. Boat underpowered couldn’t plane out of 9 miles an hour. On way in boat conked out and wouldn’t start. Brought it home and mechanic said I had no spark. Replaced coil and ignition sensor. It had a thunderbolt ignition system. After replacing I tried to fire it up. It cranked over a few times then made a loud squeal and some clunking. No won’t crank just heat starter spin.
Of note: replaced starter end of last year. Also: I’m not very mechicanlly inclined so I was told if hard starting out gas down carb and I now realized I poured way to much down. They are catching all kinds of fish and I’m docked please help! Thanks to all that reply!!
