Hello everyone, I just purchased this boat last weekend and don't know much about it. It is a 1984 Sea Sprite Sandpiper with the 3.7L 470. Engine serial #6738510. The carb is a Mercarb 2 barrel. The PO started it on the muffs in his driveway but it started really hard. He said it has a "flooding problem", and it finally started after cranking on it for 3-4 minutes. After it finally started it seemed to run ok. He has installed a Sierra Tune up Kit #18-5268 on it. I just received Mercruiser Service Manual #3 today and I would like some advice on where to start with this problem. I am new to boats and any tips or tricks would be much appreciated. Can I do a simple carb test to see if this is where my problem lies or should I be looking elsewhere? Where should I start the diagnosis? Thanks
