Hello,
I have a '97 Mercruiser 3.0LX that i'm refurbishing after it's been sitting for a while. I've had success running the engine, after refurbishing the carb, starter and alternator replacement, plugs, wires, cleaning out exhaust/intake manifold, new fuel lines/sender & fuel. I'm getting fuel and spark. It is difficult to start when cold. I go through the process of priming the engine and going through the standard 1/4-1/2" position but in THAT position I can't get it to start. After the 4th or 5th attempt at cranking the engine only when I move the throttle closer to the "neutral" position at the end of the crank cycle is when it starts to bellow and try to turnover. That is the only way i've gotten it to start. Does any of this seem odd? Should the linkage or carb be adjusted at all? I am new to this but absolutely obsessed with the hobby, i'm hooked. Any tips would be gold. Thanks guys.
