Mercruiser 3.0L Gear Ratio

I have a 3.0L coupled to a Alpha One Gen 2, with a 2.00 gear ratio. Could I switch to another Gen 2 with a 1.94 gear ratio? Is there any part that I need to change?

Thanks for the reply alldodge! What I meant was to swap the whole unit, not rebuild it. I can get a 1.94 for cheaper and was thinking to replace mine.

The difference between a 1.94 and 2.00 gear ratio is not significant.
