Advance auto only had 1 in stock so I was unable to do so. Otherwise I would have.

From what I've read and makes sense is that broken belts may not strand you and that you could "limp home". the water pump on the drive should be able to keep enough water to keep the engine cool. And you would have no power steering. But you could make it back to the dock. Does this sound right?

What you also don't have is your battery being charged. Running the engine slowly so it doesn't overheat will also run the battery down. Goodnight ignition system, and radios to call for help. ...

Just saying. ...

Yes, sorry. I was speaking from the perspective of lake life being within a mile or 2 of the dock. Not out on the open water.

Michael7373, I did a informational post about that same question when it happened to me 2 or 3 years ago. Yes you can make it home. If you have done proper maintenance on your drive and have a good impeller it will provide enough water flow to the engine up to about 1500 rpm. You will not have power steering, water pump, or alternator. So turn off your radio and unplug all unneeded electronics. Hopefully you didn't buy the smallest, cheapest, battery you could find :D After this happened to me I put on the spare belt and zip tied it out of the way like others mentioned.
