Mercruiser 3.0 MPI - Is this the engine block? Is that rust bad?

Sorry I'm a total novice but i want to learn. I don't want to be stung when I take the boat for a service.
Im seeing rust on what i think is the engine block. Is that the engine block? (the red arrow and green arrow are pointed at it) - it seems to be where the oil goes in?





And last question - to the right of the green arrow - is that the manifold?

That rust is minimal. And yes that is the manifold. I suggest you learn a bit more about your motor. Go in the stickies at the top of this forum and study a bit. Also, a factory service manual will help a lot if you decide to do some service yourself.

Agree, it's fine. Low quality control at Merc is reason it's rusting. The rust will not effect the motor.

You could use a wire brush and get as much off as possible, then prime and repaint. If you go to dealer they will do similar at maybe $100 an hour or more
