Hi,

I've had an intermittent problem with a small amount of water leaking from the front of the engine and dripping into the bilge when running. Mechanic said that the seal for the recirculating pump was failing, and needed to be replaced soon, but not an emergency. Said it occurs fairly regularly on these engines, and was not a big deal to do.
Is this a big deal (= labor intensive) job to do, is it a do it yourself fix, or better left to the dealer ?

Opinions???

thanks

BowriderBob
99 VIP VIVA 184
3.0 LX Mercruiser

Not too dificult with a good set of tools. The only thing that can turn this into a nightmare, is corrosion (see the thread,"****screw heads broke off" by loopit).
Be carefull when breaking loose the bolts..Use plenty of WD40 or liquid wrench..Use more rust-buster than strength.
It's about an hour job to the weekend wrench's ability, about as hard as changing the oil.
