Mercruiser 3.0 engine block cover water leak

Hi

I have an 2007 mercruiser 3.0 L with closed cooling system

My engine leaks fresh water out of the push rod cover (large cover with 4 senter bolts below spark plugs)

This only appers on full trottle, and only few drops from lower rear corner.

I bought the boat last year, but this leak seems to have been for a long time (paint gone below leak)

Does anyone have an idea ?
should there be water behind this cover at all ?

Closed system......FULL or half? (I.E. does coolant run through the manifold or is it raw water in the manifold?)



There is NO source of fresh water IN the block if your cooling system is closed cooled....(it is 60/40, 50/50 etc anti-freeze)

If it's raw water, and your engine has a HALF system, I would say you have a cracked manifold (or leak) which is allowing a little water (stream) to "spray" on the side of the engine ( pushrod cover etc)

It happens at high power settings (high RPM) because your raw water pump is putting max volume and pressure......so maybe it's a tiny leak.

If you have power steering, and depending on where your power steering oil cooler is located, IT could have a little crack in it and is spraying water on the side of the engine......

Better post a picture of where your leak is. There shouldn't be anything but oil in the are you are describing.

Thanks for answers

i did another test run yesterday and used a torch to have a closer look. I found out that it is my head gasket that is leaking, and the water is ending up below the push rod cover. So i think my problem is solved.
i will try to after draw the head bolts today, and if that doesnt work i will change it.
