mercruiser 1C lower shift cable

hello all, can you tell me what type of attachment I will find on my gimble housing for my shift cable.replacement. will it be accessible from outside thread or does it screw into the housing from the inside.

If you can see a brass hex on the forward side facing the bow you have a front entry and will need to convert to rear entry If you remove the drive and see a hex inside you have the newer aft entry cable
