Mercruiser 140 with Delco EST ignition system

I have replaced my old Mercruiser 140 with a GM Vortec Marine engine with Delco EST ignition system.

My questions are:

Do I have to remove the resistance wire to the ignition coil to increase voltage on coil ?

The shift interrupter switch in the 140 configuration is grounding the coil while shifting - it seems to me that the instead of grounding, the Delco EST distributor requires +12V while shifting - which means that i have to move the ground on the starter solenoid bracket to +12V - am i right or wrong ?

If anybody has a before and after wiring diagram I would appreciate that.

Yes, you will have to get rid of the resistance wire. Then rewire as shown in the manual below. Look at the wiring diagrams using the EST. Also check the ignition section for setting the timing and how to do it properly.
