When i start my boat i go to put in gear and the motor stalles there is a Ele'pressure switch near the cables is this bad i have a 488 Merc can any buddy help me Thanks
normaly this is indicative of a bad lower shift cable, while you have it apart carefully inspect the upper shift shaft seal in the exhaust cavity, its a major cause of cable failure in my area.
The shift interrupt system is designed to make the engine hesitate for a split second to allow the reverse cut dog clutch to release. When the cable is stiff, it holds the SI system engaged long enought to kill the engine before it releases.
