Mercontrol works with what years?

I have a 1977 Mercontrol that came on a boat with a 1977 Mercury 40hp 2-stroke. I also used it with a 1980 Mercury 18hp 2-stroke. Through what year can this Mercontrol be used? No power tilt and trim on the Mercontrol.

I used the '77 MerControl on my '93 Merc. I needed to change out the wiring harness since the '77 plug end was different than the '93 motor plug,
