mercarb rebuilding kit

I'v got a mercarb 1389-9562 on my 1988 mercruiser 3.0L engine. I called a local mercruiser dealer and he told me there were 2 different rebuild kits for that carb and he couldn't tell which one I needed until I took the carb off. I then called napa and they said they had a kit which was for my carb and it was about $30-$40 cheaper.<br />Does anyone know if this napa kit will work, or would I be better off taking my carb to the mercruiser guy for the correct mercarb kit.<br />Brian

The same basic carb is used on cars. Take the carb off, and take it to NAPA, to make sure you get the right one. There are three different types that I know of.<br />The only way to get the right one is to match up on the counter.<br />Good luck.
