Merc won't start??

Hi, great forum.
I have a 2000 Merc 150 carb. outboard, I tried to start it for the first time after being stored all winter. The problem I'm having is, it'll crank but won't fire while cranking. I did notice if I crank it and let the key go back to the run position, it'll fire up and run. So obviously there is no spark while in the cranking position, but spark in the run position. Has anyone had this problem? Bad ign. switch maybe. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

Possible weak battery. When the starter is running it is pulling the voltage below what the ignition needs.

Did you measure voltage at the Starter while it is turning?

If you have poor connections in the system it will have the same effect as a weak battery.

Good luck. :)
