Merc. waterpump output

Not sure how to get an answer for this so here we go, how much water should be squirting out the top outlet? Maybe someone can tell me a volume per min or how far it should shoot out.
1998 Merc OB. 40 HP 2-stroke

A full and steady stream should do it,the tattle tale is really just a full time full flow outlet.Don,t think it is measured.
