I ran mine for a while without any rubber on either flapper and didnt have any issues. If you run it, try to avoid rapid deceleration.

I wouldnt, however its your boat.

avoid backing up quickly, rapid deceleration (instant throttle cuts) and rough seas

I wouldn't use it without the exhaust shutter in place. Generally when the shutters fall down, they would have done so due to that they melted a little from an overheat condition such as from a worn impeller. Just thinking out loud but that would prompt me to at least check the condition of the impeller as well.

Hi
It?s likely your drive and engine can?t be compared to a 4.3 with a lower drive ratio...even in the same boat.
Very likely you have a 1.47 ratio by the sounds of it.
Get a good 3 blade 19? and she should be right.
The 4 blades tend to drop the revs because of the bigger diameter and usually heavier to swing.
You certainly won?t want to go higher than a 19? if your ratio is 1.47. That?s for certain.

Impeller was chaned already as bellows and other ? maintenence? parts. Have no overheating problem as well. Still firm in 160 temp all day long even with the flapper on the bottom of Y Pipe las5 weekend. Just found flapper today....

Anyway flapper has to be replaced, by now just got from my local merc dealer the grommets so it can hold in place. meanwhile hope to test this weekend if it make any difference ( cause ? clogged exhaust?) regarding speed and rpm with same prop.

Can you use it with out the flapper? You've been using it without the flapper for some time already... same thing happened in my old boat never had an issue for god knows how long. Is supect the flapper down there was restricting your performance will be interesting to see how it woks now

porscheguy. How did the the mirage compare to the rev 4 in terms of holeshot or pulling for water sports? That's why I like four blades, rarely end up hitting WOT for long so the extra couple mph doesn't do me much good

I didnt spend a lot of time with the rev4, but what time I did use it, Ive got to say in some ways I like the mirage better. Ive never tried any of them with watersports. But I was thinking about my response to you last night. I would try to play with the pvs plugs on your enertia. Maybe install some plugs with the small vent plugs.

The rev4 is a prop that likes to run in aerated water. Alpha drives have low x dimensions and dont see much aeration. I may try changing the plugs on mine next year to see if introducing aeration will change performance.

please let us know how it runs. Btw, isnt that a lowrance gps/chart plotter in your video? Does it measure speed?

we suspect about the flapper when Scoot Danforth and Porscheguy mentioned it later in the thread. Was the fatest and cheapiest alternative to check, anyway im still looking into the prop too and check for llDodge advice. Just got thi sboat on Oct and been in the water around 2 times. 1st time wate rwas rough and too much jumping and pulled it out.

Last weekend finally have nice condition to test speed and realize about the "holding/dragging" on it, but since day 1 I was like hummm 4 blade prop are not commom in this kind of boat.

well this weekend is supposed to be cold in Florida, lets see what happen but yeah cant wait to see about the flapper finding. I have Navionics app on my iphone also the Lowrance measure speed but I was so busy fighting with the trims (got confused with trailer trim feature and power trim) and looking into temp, oil psi, and rpms that never look into speed or use the Navionics too. But definitely something was funny with speed and just reaching 4100 rpms for sure.

Will keep you posted guys with more pics and final result of this test. Still have to use same prop no chance to get a new one by now.

my boat was usually the first one on the water in April in WI, other than a small-craft advisory, you can take the boat out year-round in FL

Depending on where you are in Fl , most of the prop shops will give you a loaner to try. In Fort Lauderdale, Frank and Jimmys prop shop does.
