merc scan mate.

I was going to purchase a scan mate diagnostic for my Volvo 5.8fi 1996. It shows on there site it will work. My question is where to connect it. I have looked for a ten pin connector it claims to plug into. I can't find it. It does not even show it on my wiring schematics. I just hate to spend that much money if I can't plug it in. Any ideas?

It will not work on a ford. But you can use auto scan tool on this engine.
Sorry is misread your post. Thought you said techmate. I have never heard of scan mate so have no idea if it will work. On Ford engines a scan tool will only read codes.

I meant tech mate. sorry. it is the merc scan tool. This one. Rinda Technologies - MerCruiser Scan Tool Spec..

It shows it works on my year and motor.
What auto scan tool? I have obdII scanner. Will it work?

I contacted them and you are right there tech mate will not work with ford motor. I guess Volvo had GM and Ford motors. Didnt know that. I will give my OBDII a shot and see if it plugs in.
